The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change started in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. In this annual conference, the issue of ‘Climate Finance’ is at the top of the agenda this year.
The ERTA side event on the "Global Basis of Corporate Reporting: Sustainability Standards with an Integrated Perspective” will be held at the Turkey Pavilion in the Blue Zone on Saturday, 16 November 2024 between 14:15 - 15:00.
The panel, moderated by ERTA Chair Prof. Dr. Güler Aras, will host the Public Oversight Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority of Türkiye President Dr. Hasan Özçelik, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) Board Member Jenny Bofinger-Schuster, International Organization of Securities Commissions - IOSCO Director of Standards Development Kris Nathanail, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Türkiye, Vice President of the Directorate of Climate Change Mehrali Ecer and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Regional Head of Public Affairs for Europe, Eurasia, Middle East and the Americas Vikas Aggarwal.
This panel, which will include high-level speakers from global and national standard-setting organisations, will discuss current national, regional and international developments on sustainability standards, assurance auditing, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) issues and corporate reporting ecosystems. In addition, future strategies and actions for Turkey and developing countries will be emphasised, and the impact of reporting standards on investor decision-making processes, as well as the responsibilities of companies in ensuring sustainable financing with a focus on green transformation and sustainable development will be discussed in a comprehensive manner.
